The Taa Bora ( the "better light" in Swahili) is built in Tanzania with locally available materials, solar and LED technology. Its simplicity of construction and low cost provides many families in the developing world with an affordable path to clean and inexpensive lighting. In the US, students and teachers build it in order to explore the issues and challenges of the developing world as well as solar, led technology and basic electricity.

The kit uses an empty soda bottle as a demonstration of ingenuity, simplicity and a powerful message in a bottle.
